10 years ago, our CEO Regan Wigg associated himself with a company which had a similar and aligned belief as himself. That all members of the public should have access to a gold standard, integrated affordable healthcare service. This core belief developed after noting that all the literature around patients accessing healthcare to aid their issue discussed limitations of cost and providers that don’t understand there specific and complex needs. Thus, our integrated service was born.
Over the past 10 years, we have established ourselves in the Northshore community developing connections ranging from gyms, rest homes, companies, schools, and sports clubs. Our core belief has led to our ongoing success and growth to now operating out of five locations around the North Shore and Hibiscus Coast.
At Physio Connect, we are focused on developing our staff and implementing the latest technologies and we are proud to have a close working relationship with Auckland University of Technology (AUT). We are one of very few company’s in New Zealand to offer ACS treatment and house a podiatrist belonging to a very small cohort of podiatrist trained in injection therapies.
As we progress and grow, we mix our staffing with both highly experienced staff and new graduate rolls. This ensures the growth of our professions as our younger generation with the latest literature knowledge can learn off the elders with vast clinical experience. All clinicians are clinically trained in paediatric conditions, if a condition was to sit outside of their scope, they have the connections to ensure the patient is seen by the right individual.
How we help children
We understand that pain and injury is a part of life, however we don’t agree that pain should have a prolonged effect on quality of life in our growing youth.
Children are treated as individuals. As they are the owner of their pain, our clinicians will direct the consultation to addressing the child’s concerns, needs and desires. This approach has been shown to lead to better clinical outcomes as the root issue the child is facing is understood and treated.
A typical session with a physio connect clinician will begin with the completion of an initial patient form. Both parent and child will sign this, this sets the tone of inclusion as the child is the owner of injury or pain. The clinician will then ask a range of questions directed toward the child in an easy to understand format, followed by questions to the accompanying parent, finishing again with questions from the child.
The clinician will then go through an objective of functional assessment. This may include child specific exercises like hopping, skipping or jumping to pin point the root cause. The objective assessment will guide the clinician to their diagnosis, or possible further imaging studies.
The child will be informed of their issue to a level that they can understand. This will continue the tone of inclusion from start to finish. Together, with the help of willing parents, we will work with our younger patients to develop patient specific health plans. Dependant on the injury, condition or pain, treatment may comprise of manual therapy, orthotics, exercises, or other holistic services offered at physio connect.
We have five clinics located around the North Shore and Hibiscus Coast. Our clinics have spacious modern consultation rooms and exercise spaces as an important part of rehab. They all have easy access parking.
