The Ponsonby School of Dance

About Us

ImageTracey Wright opened The Ponsonby School of Dance, in 2001.

With over 25 years’ experience teaching ballet, jazz and musical theatre in New Zealand and the UK, she is registered with the Royal Academy of Dance and has been appointed examiner for the JazzAddict dance syllabus for Australasia.

Tracey and her team of experienced teachers are passionate about sharing their love of dance with children, offering a high level of teaching in classical ballet, jazz, contemporary and hip hop.

The Ponsonby School of Dance has achieved great results in all forms of dance, both in examinations and competitions, with a number of students achieving top marks in Australasia. A number of our students have been accepted into the Junior Associates program with the New Zealand School of Dance and an ex-pupil was recently accepted into the Queensland Ballet Company.

Nurturing your child’s love of dance

PicWhether the aim is for your child to learn to dance just for the fun of it or to achieve success in examinations and competitions, there is so much to be gained.

Your child will develop co-ordination, self-confidence, self-esteem, social skills, an ability to follow instructions and the opportunity to perform on stage – all while making friends along the way.

Classes are held at our studios, 28 Hargreaves Street, Ponsonby. (Hargreaves Street is off College Hill.) There are 14 'drop-off' carparks available and limited parking in side streets.

We have three custom built studios on site, each with viewing windows. All children are made to feel welcome by staff and existing students. There is always a great buzz at the studio.

Come along and join a bunch of very enthusiastic and dedicated students!
