In July 2013, Sally Carstensen and her husband Paul took over ownership of the centre, with Sally having worked for the previous owners for several years.
Our professional teaching team believes that children learn best through play and guided participation.
Our planned programme is founded on the core Christian principles of acceptance, love and honesty, and is aligned to Te Whaariki, the national early childhood curriculum.
We are licensed for 50 children with a maximum of 15 under 2’s.
Our learning programmes
Children learn best when they are loved and nurtured within a secure and stimulating environment that encourages discovery, curiosity, exploration, wonder, opportunity and creativity. That is why we have designed our programmes in ways that will help your child grow to their full potential. Our learning programmes are based on three broad developmental spans of infants, toddlers and pre-schoolers. Each group has their own unique needs and as such we plan accordingly.
Under 2.5 years (Infants)
In our Bumble Bee Room, we support strong and secure attachments between our children and a constant caregiver. We provide an environment that is calm and loving, allowing infants and toddlers the freedom to explore, and recognise the value of play in the child’s learning.
2.5 to 3 years (Toddlers)
In our Busy Bees Room, we provide strong child-led and initiated learning with teacher support, while allowing them to grow in confidence and become independent in areas of their learning.
4-5 years (Pre-schoolers)
In our Worker Bee Room, our Ready for School programme is well established with a programme that includes visits to the child’s intended school to build relationships and familiarity. But overall the aspirations for our children are for them…To grow up as competent and confident learners and communicators, healthy in mind, body and spirit, secure in their sense of belonging and in the knowledge, that they make a valued contribution to society.
Our physical environment
Located on the Mahurangi Peninsula, in the friendly coastal town of Snells Beach, just one hour north of Auckland and about ten minutes from Warkworth.
We have spacious indoor areas, and large grass and playground areas outside.
Our centre is a place where you and your children are welcome.
It is our desire to come alongside and supplement the home; assisting parents/caregivers/whanau in matters of care, education and training and to see our children being children, belonging in our community and believing the very best for them.
We want you to know that we are committed to making this learning partnership an enjoyable time for both you and your children, and we encourage and value your contribution and involvement as a parent/caregiver/whanau to their learning.
We encourage all parents/caregivers to come and visit our centre prior to enrolment. We know how important it is that you find the best environment for your child/ren and what better way to find out than seeing it for yourselves. This process also allows you to meet the friendly team at The Beehive who would be caring for your child/ren.
