SVDS is owned by Glenda Pearce an effective speaking and drama teacher for over thirty years. Returning to live in Auckland in 2010 from Keri Keri, where she taught Speech and Drama, directed many school and community productions and was HOD English and Drama in two schools.
Employed 2002-2010 by the Ministry of Education and NZQA in teacher education and assessment, she has facilitated workshops throughout the country in schools and universities in English, Literacy, Assessment, Drama and Gifted and Talented Education, and presented at national conferences. She has been the recipient of several national awards and scholarships within education and drama and is on the SCA Executive national council for speech teachers (SCA) with portfolios in education and adjudication.
Her three sons have all benefited from their lessons in speech and drama and Glenda believes that effective skills in oral communication is a great asset in today’s world.
SVDS offers an outlet for both the expressive student looking for creativity and imagination or a career in the performance or media industry, and for the quieter student wishing to build more vocal confidence and expressive qualities in speaking and reading.
Weekly session or block holiday programmes that will support students to learn what they need are available.
Studies in oral communication and speech and drama are fun and focused ways to build confidence, creativity and imagination and to develop strengths in the well-spoken, fluent presentation of ideas in all fields, offering support for Gifted and Talented students.
There is a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and Glenda prides herself on making sure that the children are inspired and motivated continuously based on her incredible knowledge base and experience.
