Rocket Ropes was established in 2011 and is owned and operated by John Dowsett, also the founder of its neighbouring attraction, Butterfly Creek, which was set up in 2003.
Butterfly Creek provided a great opportunity to introduce a high ropes activity park right next door. Also up the road from Rocket Ropes is Lock n Load Paintball, Australasia's best paintball park.
Challenge yourself and step outside your comfort zone! Rocket Ropes is suitable for all ages and great for parties, families and friends. There are two challenging high ropes courses - the Croc and Rocket courses – each with over 50 intense, challenging, creative, aerial activities within them!
The brand new Rocketeer low climbing course was designed specifically for children aged 2 – 6 years, to experience a climbing course using carabiners.
While they have fun, they will be developing more important skills as well as using their growing brains to solve problems and overcome challenges as they negotiate the exciting course.
Is it safe?
We are committed to providing you with a comprehensive safety system from our construction techniques, down to the personal safety gear we provide.
Rocket Ropes uses a German system – the Bornack SSB. It is a clever system ensuring one cannot be detached at any time. We pride ourselves on safety and have a clean safety record. We hold the OutdoorsMark certification and use independent auditors to monitor our courses and safety systems.
While your child is up on the course, you are given the responsibility to manage their safety with instructors just a shout away, monitoring their progress from the ground.
All of our instructors are fully trained, with rescue personnel always present and equipped with specialised gear if you ever require their assistance.
How does it work?
Rocket Ropes encourages everyone to have a go, including those with learning difficulties or physical challenges. Your child is geared up on arrival and a full induction, including completion of a practice course, is done before your child heads up onto the ropes.
During the induction, we explain how the Bornack works, what the equipment is and how it is fitted, before completing a full check once fitting is complete.
During the safety briefing time, if you are a spectator, you can watch, relax on the deck in the sun or grab a coffee next door at Butterfly Creek.
You then need to be actively available for supervising if you have children under the age of 15 climbing. Each course takes about 1.5 - 2 hours to complete, depending on the course selected, your child’s level of confidence, the progress of the people in front and the number of people on the course. Our Rocketeer preschoolers course can be completed in half an hour by eager, confident preschoolers.
What do we bring?
Your child will need to wear sensible outdoors shoes with suitable grip soles eg. trainers or ankle supporting boots – that means no high heels, jandals or sandals. For enjoyment and safety, we recommend loose and comfortable clothing but skirts and dresses are not recommended. Check out the weather forecast for the day and dress accordingly.
Remember to bring along sunscreen if it is a fine day. Long hair is advised to be tied back.
