North Harbour Gymnastics Centre was created in 1986 when a number of North Shore gymnastics clubs amalgamated. We have been situated in our purpose built gym at the North Shore Events Centre since 1992 and also have satellite centres in Hibiscus Coast, Orewa and Glamorgan School.
All of our coaches are qualified at the level they are currently coaching at and have first aid training.
They undergo regular training to develop their own skills and a head coach and/or manager is always onsite.
Building confidence & fundamental sporting skills
These are locomotion, landing, static (balance), rotation, spring, swing and manipulative skills. We have recreational classes for all ages and abilities.
Through participating in a class for just one hour a week, your child will build on and cement these skills which will help them not only in gymnastics but allow them to grow in general confidence and in many other sporting codes.
Our competitive gymnasts are well-rounded athletes with great sportsmanship and time management skills. Many go on to be school leaders and high achievers in other sporting codes after a successful gymnastics career.
This is a safe, fun place for under 2s to increase their early skills in climbing, balancing, jumping, hanging and rolling etc.
Your toddler will be introduced to tunnels, ladders, hoops, slides, low balance beams, soft foam stairs, small bars and wedges.
Each class consists of a game and two circuits which change weekly. Circuit one is always on the Kindy floor and circuit two is in a different part of the gym each week. At the end of the session, your child will meet on the mat to sing a goodbye song and receive a stamp celebrating their great gym.
This class is for children aged 5-9 years who are beginners and have never been in the gym before or need to gain some confidence in a sporting environment.
Your child will develop the fundamental movement patterns which are important for gymnastics and any other sports that your child might take up in the future. After working intensively on activities that build these patterns for the first 6 weeks of term, your child will move into gymnastics-based activities for the remainder of the term.
Recreational artistic classes
These patterns are the foundation for all sports and are a great way to compliment any other sports your child does. Progression and fun are some of the key elements in this programme and there are events at which ribbons, certificates and badges can be earned as your child progresses.
Fun, safe environments
Both our North Shore Events Centre and Hibiscus Coast sites are fully equipped gymnasiums with specialised gymnastics equipment catering to all levels and ages.
At the Orewa and Glamorgan sites, the equipment is set up before the first session and taken down after the last session.
