About Us

Kids OT has been developed by Rosy Butcher, who is a qualified Paediatric Occupational Therapist, registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand. She has over thirty years’ work experience as an Occupational Therapist, specialising in Paediatrics for the past fourteen years. Her post-graduate training in Sensory Integration has proven to be an integral focus of her service delivery.

Rosy has worked within a variety of settings including Te Whanau Kotahi (Child Development Team) for 5 years and then moving into Private Practice with varying organisational contracts including Special and Mainstream schools, ACC, Ministry of Education- High and Complex Needs Team/ Wraparound service, Community Living Trust. In 2015 Rosy was employed by CCS Disability Action as a Community Support Coordinator where she recognised the need for families to have more options for interventions for their children. This led her to start Kids OT in May 2016.

How you help children

Initially assessment processes are essential identify problem area, set goals and can be used as a measure of progress. There is a wide scope of assessment options available, from light screening to in-depth assessment processes. Kids OT have a broad range of assessment tools to draw upon, including standardised and play based assessments. Most children come for weekly sessions for 45mins.

All sessions are individually planned to target your child’s specific need. Activities are motivational, fun and designed promote success which increases self-confidence and positive feelings of self-worth. Sessions are run by a qualified experienced Occupational Therapist.

We are also here to help if you need support to communicate with Health or Education services to understand your child’s issues. We can attend meetings to assist in clarification around issues and advocate on your behalf, contribute to reports from multi-disciplinary teams and provide information and/or reports to teachers/other people directly involved with your child.

Physical environment

The premises are in a residential area close to Fraser Cove Tauranga where we have a warm spacious well-resourced therapy room. Off street parking is available. Please park in the driveway and walk down around the back of the house to the Kids OT Centre.

The centre is close to walking tracks, Yatton Park and great shopping areas within a few minutes’ drive, in all directions.


The room has air conditioning but is also open to the outside and is sunny and north facing. Parents are welcome to stay or leave when their child is settled. It is a purposefully uncluttered calm environment which brightens with the activities presented during the session.
