Empowering youth through healthy experiences
- Physically challenging activities
- Employment and training advocacy
- And other support services.
The HBC Youth Centre was established in 1997, thanks to the hard work of local business owner Keith Morris and the community. Our staff has evolved over the past 18 years with a team and facilities in place that is second to none.
The location and facilities are extraordinary
All our staff are suitably trained to supervise our range of activities and use professional gear and safety equipment.
Inside we have a 4m High Swing, indoor Rock Wall and trapeze. Outside we have an 8m Abseiling Tower and 13m Climbing Pole. Right next to the Centre is the Orewa Estuary where we can take your children kayaking, or you can come down as a family and take advantage of the kayak hire.
A safe space to hang out
We offer youth a mad as place to come and hang out. Our café is a ‘Well Safe’ project that offers your child the opportunity to get out, be themselves and hang with friends while being in a safe and fun supervised environment.
With free WiFi, PS3 on a big LCD screen, and a pool table, they are free to do whatever they feel like doing. We're also right next to the Orewa skate park. And it doesn't even cost anything!
Every Friday night we hold “CHILL”. This is a group dedicated to providing fun activities, like rock climbing, dance parties, and games, for youth aged 13 – 17 years. It’s a safe space to escape home for a few hours - a place to forget about worries.
The space is open from:
- 3:30pm till 6pm Monday to Thursday
- 3:30pm till 10:30pm Friday
- 12:00pm till 7pm Saturday with late nights once a month.
- 1pm – 6pm Sundays.
After school care
After school care is available for children aged 5 – 13 years between the hours of 2.45pm – 6pm. Primary school children may be collected directly from the following Primary Schools:
