Frog Puddles Childcare Centre

About Us

frog puddles 9‘Froggies’, owned by Jo Clarke, has been in operation for almost 14 years. A small centre with a homely, welcoming feel, we provide a caring and inclusive environment for up to 33 preschool children.

Our centre has six fully qualified teachers (three for ‘under twos’, three for ‘over twos’) and four part time teacher aides, some of whom have been here for 12-13 years.

We promote and support the development of lifelong learning dispositions such as perseverance, inquiry and problem solving. Children are encouraged to develop positive social skills and co-operative skills, including sharing, turn taking and leadership.

Personal attention in an enriching environment

Frog puddles 3Our centre offers a welcoming, respectful setting for children and their families. Children are provided with challenging and enjoyable learning experiences.

The attractive, well-resourced learning environment encourages them to extend their interests through exploratory play and to benefit from rich learning experiences in the well-equipped outdoor play areas.

Teachers know children and their families very well. They work in partnership with parents and whānau to promote the well-being, learning and interests of each child.

Babies are particularly well cared for and benefit from a warm and encouraging environment that allows them to explore their surroundings. Older children benefit from the support teachers provide to help them make a smooth transition to schools in the local community.

Children are familiar with, and participate well in, daily routines. They enjoy opportunities to play and learn with their peers. Attentive adults and well organised systems help children to feel secure and to have a sense of belonging.

Valuing communication & collaboration

frog puddles 12Our teachers encourage children and parents to be involved in planning programmes. They respond to children’s individual strengths and interests and value their diverse cultural backgrounds. Literacy, mathematics and science are strengths of the programme.

Children’s involvement in the programme is recorded in informative portfolios that are available both at the centre and online.

This ready access helps to promote good communication and information sharing between families and teachers.
